Sr. IT Generalist/Manager

Job Overview

The Sr. IT Generalist/Manager oversees our IT department to ensure seamless operation of all technology-related functions across the Company. With a solid foundation in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and IT security, this position is tasked with implementing and upholding IT systems and policies while providing technical support to employees. This role may involve traveling to job sites during the initial stages of significant customer projects to verify the readiness and functionality of all IT infrastructure components.  As a result of the geographically dispersed nature of the Company and its 24/7 field operations, the person in this position is required to address internal and external customer needs outside of regular business hours.  This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and upkeep of the Company’s IT infrastructure, encompassing network, storage systems, and cloud services.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of all IT systems.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the Company’s IT infrastructure and data.
  • Monitor for security breaches and promptly address incidents as they arise.
  • Perform routine security audits and vulnerability assessments on a regular basis.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, implement solutions to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Administer and manage IT systems, such as email servers, databases, and operating systems.
  • Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of data backup and recovery procedures.
  • Maintain updated documentation of system configuration and procedures.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate the allocation and set up of all computer systems and related hardware for both permanent and temporary employees, including equipment tailored to individual projects or job locations.
  • Coordinate the acquisition, licensing, and implementation of all software for both permanent and temporary employees, including software tailored to specific projects or job sites.
  • Streamline the allocation and reallocation of software licenses for optimal utilization.
  • Oversee the management of the MSP with the aim of gradually minimizing its role and ultimately replacing it to a significant extent.
  • Review and revise policies to address evolving security threats and technological advancements on a regular basis.
  • Educate employee on IT policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to employees on IT-related issues.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of support tickets and uphold high levels of satisfaction.
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Keep abreast of cybersecurity threats, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Develop and manage IT department budget.
  • Ensure IT investments align with business objectives and deliver value to the organization.
  • Lead IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery withing budget constraints.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate resources and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance IT processes, systems, and services.
  • Implement changes to increase efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Maintain poise and focus under time constraint and adverse conditions.
  • Ensure safe working environment while performing work.
  • Comply with all Client and Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Education requirement may be waived with demonstrated experience in IT management role, with a proven track record of success including strong technical background in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and network management.

  • Possess/be able to obtain and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), preferred.
