Piping Project Field Engineer

Job Overview

The Piping Project Field Engineer is responsible for reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).  This role acts on behalf of the Client, serving as a liaison for scope generation and complete project development for upcoming piping upgrades to the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to ensure all project requirements are understood and implemented correctly.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between the Client and the Company, ensuring clear communication and coordination.
  • Develops comprehensive project scopes for piping upgrades, including detailed specifications and requirements.
  • Oversees the complete project development lifecycle, from initial planning through to execution and completion.
  • Ensures all project activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes and enforce a strong safety culture, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to project teams, resolving any issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Maintains detailed project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and project completion reports.
  • Effectively communicate project status, challenges, and successes to all relevant stakeholders, including the Client and the Company.
  • Maintains poise and focus under strict time constraints and challenging conditions.
  • Complies with all Client and Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a piping project engineering role within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, preferred
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, with a strong understanding of piping systems and components
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects from scope generation to completion
  • Exceptional attention to detail and work ethic are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Effective handling of multiple tasks simultaneously; able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter

  • Proficient with applicable software such as Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Able to work in hazardous industrial environments such as refineries and manufacturing plants
  • Must possess/be able to obtain and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
