Senior Director of Quality

Job Overview

The Senior Director of Quality directs and manages all QA/QC functions and activities to ensure compliance with applicable Company, client and government regulations and requirements.  This position will conduct audits to ensure quality requirements are met, and will resolve quality related issues and determine acceptance or rejection of work-in-process and completed work activities.

This role requires interfacing with all craft employees as well as Becht Industrial Group’s supervisors, client personnel, subcontractors, and vendors. He/she must have the ability to manage all aspects of a Quality Program on highly complex industrial projects with exceptional management and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive and sell quality throughout the organization
  • Manage and continually update quality control program
  • Oversee, inspect, and maintain quality of work performed in client and Company facilities
  • Ensure work is conducted in accordance with Company-established processes, procedures and policies
  • Lead and train the QA/QC team and manage productivity
  • Plan all quality-related aspects of field work, including resource utilization, staffing and reporting
  • Inspect work-in-progress and provide daily and weekly reports to management
  • Gather and organize field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving
  • Develop quality-related documentation for client review
  • Achieve and maintain acceptable weld rejection rate as determined by Company
  • Conduct lessons learned meetings for all field projects and verify action items are completed/documented
  • Manage ASME Quality Control System, including completion and submission of renewal surveys
  • Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and other control documents as required
  • Maintain codes and standards books and conduct internal audits
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment
  • Comply with all client and Company policies and procedures
  • Conduct work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Additional responsibilities as required


  • 10+ years’ QA/QC experience in the mechanical services and/or construction industries (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in QA/QC or related field (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge in GMAW, GTAW, SAW and FCAW welding processes (required)
  • CWI Certification (preferred)
  • Experience in weld inspections and nondestructive testing (preferred)
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry practices, codes and standards (required)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and work ethic (required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (required)
  • Effective handling of multiple tasks simultaneously; able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter
  • Relentless commitment to teamwork, excellence and client satisfaction
  • Proficient with applicable software such as Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Able to work in hazardous industrial environments such as refineries and manufacturing plants
  • Must possess/be able to obtain and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Travel estimated at 50%; at times with little notice
